‘Lifetime’s New Movie About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Love Story Looks So Bad It Might Actually Be Good

Lifetime just revealed their trailer for A Royal Romance, a fictional take on Harry and Meghan's love story, and it looks... well, exactly like what you'd expect from a Lifetime movie, honestly.

As we grow closer and closer to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding, the more we can’t stop talking about the couple. I’ll admit it: their love story intrigues me, just like William and Kate’s did when they first announced their engagement. There’s something about royalty that makes you wonder.

Unsurprisingly, royal romances tend to lead to a lot of new media. William and Kate’s wedding spawned books like The Royal We and William and Kate: A Royal Love Story and even a Hallmark movie that tried to recreate the epic love story (though, let’s be real… It’s Hallmark, so it was mostly just a corny, feel-good mess). Are we really surprised that Harry and Meghan’s relationship is now the inspiration for a new movie, too?

Look, the movie looks bad. Really bad. There’s a soundtrack that’s way too emotional, lines that seem just a little too corny, and a plot that already seems pretty contrived, despite being based off a true story. There are plenty of brooding looks, longing glances, and angst-filled outbursts. This isn’t a masterpiece by any definition of the word, but that isn’t going to stop me from watching the hell out of it.

Luckily for us, Lifetime will air the movie on May 13. It may not be as great as watching the real Meghan and Harry, but it’ll hopefully tide us over while we wait impatiently for the royal wedding on May 19. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
