If you have a choice between being kind and being right, you sometimes have to be right.

I’m sure 50% of women in this world have been called a “bitch” or “slut” at some point in their lives. I spent half of my teenage life taking offense when people referred to me with such “sugary” words until I realized that people often bad-mouth the ones that they don’t understand. These haters have zero capacity when it comes to taking in the success of others. They just cannot handle it. After some introspection, I came up with the following reasons for when it’s okay to be called a bitch –

1) Standing Up For Yourself

If you have a choice between being kind and being right, you sometimes have to be right. That means you have to stop yourself from being goody-two-shoes and take charge of your self-respect. You can’t live your life tip-toeing around others, when they don’t even think twice before walking all over your self-esteem.

2) Being Honest

Truth is mostly harsh. But someone needs to say it. And if you decide to be that someone, don’t beat yourself up for it. It takes an immense amount of courage to do so.

3) Having A Sex Drive

Humans are born to procreate. Bunnies have sex. Horses have sex. Dogs have sex. Cockroaches have sex. Turtles have sex. Aliens have sex and so can you. If anybody gives you shit for pacifying the thirst of your libido, then let them befriend your middle finger.

4) Selfishness For Career

To achieve success, you have to defeat other people who come in the way. That isn’t necessarily being selfish for your own benefit. It’s called a healthy competition, without which, the world would not have progressed as much as it has. If you spend time pleasing the heart of others, you’ll never get time to fulfill your own wishes. And trust me, when their time comes, they will happily kick you off the ladder of success to get ahead of you. It sounds bad, but if you want to make a living, that’s just how it works.

5) Not Giving Respect

Respect has to be earned. Age and position should not be a criteria based on which a person should put on a pedestal and idolized. Whether he/she deserves respect or not should be based on the following questions:-

– Does he/she have a good personality?

– Does he/she practice the act of kindness where it’s genuinely needed?

– Does he/she treat people inferior to him equally?

– Is he/she sympathetic to other people’s problems?

– Does he/she give respect to get respect?

– Has he/she contributed something significant to the world?

Always remember that nobody in this world is made up of purely rainbows and magic. Some are made up of hatred and darkness, and to fight them, you have to sometimes unleash the darkness in you too. TC mark
