Hate To Break It To You But You Were Never A Part Of His Story

Now that chapter has closed and I’m sewing the pages shut.

Does anyone else think that the phrase “ a friendly reminder” sounds markedly more hostile than just “a reminder”? No, just me? Okay?

Anyway, friendly reminder: you’re an actual crazy person.

I can’t believe we have to go over this again. Why won’t you leave this alone? You are pathetic and embarrassing. This has gone on long enough. What more has to happen for you to move on from this? The message could not be any clearer.

He chose her again, you know. You weren’t in the running. You weren’t even invited to the race.

You need to stop remembering how things were. Hindsight is golden. It makes everything from that time seem charming and perfect and exciting. That wasn’t the case. You were angry a lot and hurt a lot. You had migraines and cried in the bathroom at work. You were nasty to people who loved you. You were selfish and stupid. The time you remember as “the best of your life” was, in reality, a disaster waiting to happen. Oh wait, it did happen. Remember? You freaked the fuck out and left town.

Instead, I want you to focus on RIGHT NOW. You can’t change the past and you can’t plan out the future, but you can fix some things RIGHT NOW. RIGHT NOW is all you really have.

He was a chapter in your story, but you were nothing but a footnote in his.

Maybe not even that, if we are being very honest. Sorry, harsh but true. Now that chapter has closed and I’m sewing the pages shut. And no, you can’t go back. You can’t peek ahead either. Stay in your lane. Get your shit together. Act like an adult lady and show some fucking grace and humility. Put a smile on and put that pretty little nose to the grindstone and make shit happen. The only way out is through. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
