Hate To Break It To You, But Love Isn’t Always Easy
No one said love was easy, because if it were, we would all be in love.

It isn’t easy giving someone the world and not expecting even a fraction back, or loving someone beyond measure only to be given a fraction of that love back in return. It’s difficult to do things you would never even think of for someone who you aren’t entirely sure would do the same for you, but you know what?
That’s love, and it can be a thankless job.
Seeing the reaction from the one you love being given something they desire most (whether material or experience) can be the reward itself sometimes. We often can give so much more to the ones we love because we know how bad it feels to want something.
At times, however, we can be annoyed by certain actions our loved ones engage in, or when they won’t express themselves fully. Even during the times they make us mad, we try to stay calm and just say, “It’s okay, I’m fine.” But, in reality, we’re pulling our hair out because they’re blackout drunk with friends while you’re left to take care of the ones left behind.
It can be hard staying up all night wondering if they’re okay, or if they’re still coherent enough to make it home without any problems. It can be hard to think of all the worst case scenarios that can occur, but it could be easier if you just chose to trust them, too.
As bad as all this sounds, they will somehow find a way to make us feel like they appreciate what we do, even if that goes without saying so or showing it. If we really love and trust them, though, it’s okay. But it can definitely be a process.

That’s why sometimes it’s okay to do things and not expect a “thank you.” It’s okay to give your lover the world. It’s okay to be angry sometimes when you take them out with friends and only end up taking care of their mess without so much as a “thank you” in return.
But it’s okay because love can be a thankless job.
If we trust our partner enough to roll with punches, then it’s certain they’ll understand how much we mean to them, and how much they mean to us, too.
But again, it isn’t easy. And it will never be. But that’s perfectly okay. That’s love.
