Love Is An Act Of Faith

Love is not just the fleeting feelings you have when you meet someone, when your eyes lock across a shared space, when your laughter falls in sync and suddenly the room spins and everything feels so foreign and yet simply, strangely familiar.

Love is not just the rush of warmth on your cheeks, the pitter-patter of your heart, the way your words seem to roll on your tongue and have trouble passing your lips. Love is not just the hesitation and then the rush when you finally step forward or fall into someone else’s arms.

Love is not just the quiet moments, or even the loud, where your love is in a simple embrace or proclaimed in a crowded room.

Love is not just the single choice you make, to let someone into the depths of your heart, but the continued choice you make, day after day, night after frustrating night. Even when your body is tired and your soul is worn and your mind has wandered elsewhere and doubt has become your closest friend.

Love is a commitment, a promise, a decision that you keep making, even when the world keeps pulling you away. Love is a constant—sometimes beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking—but what you feel and know and believe, despite all odds.

Love is devotion, putting aside every other whim and desire of the world to say to the person you wish to spend forever with that you will, no matter the obstacle.

Love is an act of faith.

It is waking up in the morning and promising to be the best woman or man you can be for that special person. It is putting aside your stubbornness and selfishness to give all that you have, simply because they need it.

It is believing that your bond will stand the test of time, even though you cannot see what the future holds.

It is trust and vulnerability and continuance, through all the sun and storms and ease and pain of this life. It is disregarding the fears of this world for promises you’ve made, for a connection only the two of you can see and feel and understand.

And above all, it is faith. In each other. In your bond. In the emotion itself. Falling deeper into one another and choosing each other, every single day. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
