Sorry Guys — If You Haven’t Bought Your Eclipse Glasses Yet, You’re Probably Out Of Luck

Ah, the solar eclipse. Will it be the start of something new or the end of the world quite literally? The jury’s still out on that one, but we have bigger problems right now.

As you’ve probably heard (and if you haven’t heard this, heed my lecture now), it’s important to have solar eclipse glasses before you check out the astronomical event  — after all, failing to use them can lead to blindness. But unfortunately, if you haven’t managed to track down a pair yet, you may be out of luck  — people have been preparing for this for weeks, and getting your hands on the glasses may be harder than you think.

No, seriously, they’re almost completely sold out. People are waiting in line for hours just to get their hands on them and paying up to $12 just to get their hands on the special pair of lenses, which are supposed to make looking at the eclipse safe.
