If you live in Australia and have a sweet tooth for Ben and Jerry’s, we’ve got some news for you. And you might not be very happy about it.

The company made an announcement that they’re banning customers in Australian stores from ordering two scoops of the same flavor of ice cream. Why? To protest Australia’s inaction on marriage equality.

That’s right — until same-sex marriage is legal, you can’t have those two scoops of Half Baked. Try again.

The announcement was met with mixed reactions. Some people, for instance, thought it was a clever way of getting people talking.

Others were upset with how the company chose to handle the situation.

Maybe Ben & Jerry’s didn’t think it through completely…

Still, at least it’s getting people talking? Maybe withholding people’s sugar fix really is what the world needs to fuel change. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
