Love Isn’t Going To Save You

Stop looking for love. Stop chasing it. Stop running for it. I know you're tired. I know you're lonely. But you're the only one who can fix that. You are the only one can learn to love yourself. You are the only one who can work on bettering yourself and becoming a better person.

I hate to break it to you, but love from him or from her is not going to save you. And although relationships are meaningful and incredibly important, it’s not going to make your life better if your life is already terrible.

Love isn’t going to magically transform your life into a wonderland. It isn’t going to automatically guarantee you a lifetime of happiness and joy. Cupid is not going to wave a wand over your heart and make it whole again.

Love is magical, but it is not magic.

Love is beautiful don’t get me wrong. It’s wonderful to be in love and to have someone to share your dark days and sunny days with. It’s wonderful to have someone who will hold you through your worst moments and lift you up when you can’t even lift yourself up. It’s a wonderful, wonderful thing.

But it isn’t going to save your life.

It isn’t going to save your heart.

Only you can do that. Only you can make your heart whole again. Only you can restart your life and turn it into something that you want to be experiencing. Only you can transform your life and your dreams and your destiny.

And as powerful as love is, is not as powerful as you.

You see, you need to be the main character in your story. The hero of your own fairytale. Your own personal knight in shining armor. There is not one person who can have control on your own life in the same way that you have now. There is not one person that is more important in your own life, than you.

So stop looking for love. Stop chasing it. Stop running for it. I know you’re tired. I know you’re lonely. But you’re the only one who can fix that. You are the only one can learn to love yourself. You are the only one who can work on bettering yourself and becoming a better person.

And you need to do it by yourself.

Be your own boyfriend, your own best friend and your own lover. Be the person who lifts yourself up. Who believes in your own dreams and your own fantasies. Be your own number one fan and your own number one supporter.

No one else is going to turn your life around in the same way that you can. No one else is going to have that kind of power.

Love isn’t going to save you or hold you in the dark. Love isn’t going to make your wildest dreams come true and it isn’t going to turn your world into a spellbinding galaxy. Love isn’t going to always be there for you. And love isn’t going to turn your life into a life that is worth living

Only you can do that, darling.

You’re the only one who has the capability to save yourself. You’re the only chance.  Thought Catalog Logo Mark
