Stop Waiting For Tomorrow, Because It Won’t Always Come

You can't put too much trust in the future. Yes, the future holds a lot of hope and is full of beautiful things yet to happen, but it is also full of death.

Remember all the plans you made that never transformed into reality? Remember all the adventures you wanted to go on but still haven’t experienced?

Remember all the places you listed on your bucket list that have been sitting there, uncrossed, for two years now? Remember that random song you heard while riding the bus home — you loved the lyrics and always wanted to look them up on Google to find out the title, but you never found time to do so?

Remember the beautiful movie your friend recommended a year ago that you promised you’d watch when you had the time, but now, it’s still sitting on your very long to-watch list? Remember the poem you wrote in your head that you wanted to write down, but were too busy to do so?

Remember all of the opportunities you turned down in the past, because you believed that there would always be another tomorrow?

Well, you’re wrong.

I’m sorry to break this to you, but you don’t always have tomorrow and that’s the truth. You’ve been confronted by this truth many times, but you were always too afraid to face it.

I’m sure you don’t want to be one of those people who only choose to recognize this truth while lying on their deathbed, feeling extremely regretful on how they decided to live their lives. I’m sure you don’t want to be one of those people that never realize that they should’ve lived in the moment until it’s too late.

I’m sorry that I’m not sugarcoating the reality you’ve been trying to escape from all your life, but sometimes the only time you have is right now.

So stop putting things on hold. If you have the chance to visit that amazing place you’ve always wanted to see, go now. If you can make that crazy adventure happen, do it now. Live the life you’ve been wanting to live. Now.

You’re not too busy. You can actually make time for the things you love, for the life you want. Stop waiting for tomorrow, because it won’t always come.

You can’t put too much trust in the future. Yes, the future holds a lot of hope and is full of beautiful things yet to happen, but it is also full of death.

As much as we want to be optimistic about the new beginnings of tomorrow, we can’t, because the end also lies in tomorrow.

So if you have the chance to something fun today, do it. Please, do it now. If we keep putting things on hold and decide to just do them in the future, there are only two possibilities. Either we continue to exist and have the chance to live or we die without living. We don’t know what our odds are. That scares me. Doesn’t it scare you?

So live in the moment, live in the present. Live today before it’s too late. Carpe diem. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
