1. Let Go of The Asshole(s) Who Broke Your Heart.

You’ve been there once too many times. You’re so tired of the situation and you’re done with assholes, period. What are you waiting for? Delete the pictures from everywhere; your social media, cell-phone, laptop, iCloud account, or even your secret memory box. Also delete the texts, give away the gifts and throw out every single item that reminds you of them.

Let go of the plans you made together, let go of the places that meant something. Maybe bad things happen so great things can take place. Meaning, maybe our experiences prepare us for what we are after in life. Be bold when it comes to your heart. Be brave. Be fearless. Go after what you really want. Stop settling and stop lowering your standards. You deserve the best. Go meet your future someone, won’t you already?

2. Shrink Your Circle Of Trust.

Be honest with yourself about the kind of people you want around you. Acknowledge your doubts about certain people. At the same time, give people who proved they are trustworthy a chance. Strengthen your connection with people who have been there for you: those who you know you can count on.

Find your tribe, those people who you just click with and everything good evolves organically. Let go of those who you negatively impact you and who bring toxic energy with them. Stop trying to make things work with people who waste your time and drain your energy. Let go of those who don’t see you for who you really are, and let go of those who want to change you or worse, want to control you. Know who your real friends are and invest in them accordingly.

3. Map Out Your Goals For The Next Year.

Make a concrete plan on how you want to achieve your goals. Break down how you want to get to where you want to be in a specific time frame. Prioritize your goals: differentiate between goals that are important and goals that are urgent. Seek for advice and guidance from people who you can learn from and are experts in what you need help in. Let your goals challenge you and bring you closer to the person you aspire to be.

4. Change What Has Been Weighting On Your Shoulders.

If you don’t like what you do for a living, then it’s time for you to reconsider your career goals and start applying for a job that you are passionate about. Tell your significant other or those who are close to you what has been bothering you.

Get a medical check-up if you have not been feeling well. Change your address if you feel like you want to try something new. Move away if it’s time for you to spread your wings and explore your options. Take action now. Make every moment count. It’s your time to be happy!

5. Adapt Healthy Coping Habits.

Stop relying on alcohol, drugs, or meaningless sex to numb the pain. Stop filling your precious time with empty company so you’re not alone with your thoughts. Become more self-aware about your bad habits that you use to run away from your responsibilities and start replacing them with healthy ones. Control yourself. Train yourself. Get into a productive routine that gets you somewhere.

Recognize the driving force behind your decision-making. Embrace what you experience in a given moment and make it into something beautiful. Be that someone who sees the positive in every situation. Be that someone who lights-up the world for other people, too.

6. Take Time To Reward Yourself.

We often forget to enjoy where we are at in life. We get so caught-up with what we have not done that we don’t appreciate all of the things we have been doing. Give yourself a break. Catch-up on the things you feel you’ve been missing out on lately. Treat yourself to that restaurant you’ve been want to go to, get that jacket you’ve been dying to have, get a message or a make-over. Remind yourself of how fucking amazing you are. Own your own accomplishments and what you have made for yourself and others. Celebrate it. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
