The Truth About Our Footprints In The Sand

Maybe we don't realize that we aren't ever really alone and we exist in places we can't see or understand, like other people's memories or our initials left in a park bench.

Maybe the second set of footprints in the sand is the person that you used to be, no matter how hard you try who you were will follow you everywhere.

Or maybe it’s your mother’s best friend the one who you always called your aunt the one who you haven’t seen in 10 years, but you know if you called her it would be just like calling Mom.

Or maybe it’s your high school guidance counselor, the one you had to talk to you after that time you got in trouble who promised you you were meant for greatness who helped you figure out how you were going to make it through these hard years.

Or maybe it’s your first best friend,

Your first lover,

The first person you lied to,

The first person who broke your heart,

Your best friend,

The last person you kissed.

Maybe we don’t realize that we aren’t ever really alone and we exist in places we can’t see or understand, like other people’s memories or our initials left in a park bench.

God isn’t walking next to you,
God only exists inside us.

No one carried you,
you carried yourself
divine intervention is never stronger than willpower.

Maybe the second set of footprints are your own, we walk the paths over until we learn the lessons we need to from it. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
