An Open Letter To The Troll Who Called Me A Racial Slur On Twitter

Are you a teenage virgin who spends his days playing video games in his mother's basement, whining on reddit forums about how feminism has made it impossible for you to get a date and affirmative action has made it impossible for you to get a job?

You can call me whatever you want. I’m not ashamed of who I am. Yes, I have Indian blood. I also use my real full name across the social media platforms on which I am active, and my real pictures.

You, on the other hand, use a cartoon profile pic and a pseudonym. If anyone in this scenario is ashamed of who they are, it’s you.

You can find out almost anything about me online, and even gain access to my innermost thoughts through an e-book.

But who are you?

Are you a teenage virgin who spends his days playing video games in his mother’s basement, whining on reddit forums about how feminism has made it impossible for you to get a date and affirmative action has made it impossible for you to get a job?

Or perhaps you’re an angry old man who lives in a palatial mansion in Saudi Arabia, spending his days lashing out at complete strangers for differences in religion or race?

Maybe you’re even some lady who runs a puppy mill and just hates animal activists, especially the weird ones of the cow-worshiping variety.

I have no idea who you are, nor do I care to know someone who doesn’t respect themselves enough to make themselves known and to stand by their views. You are a bully and a coward. Do you even know what you stand for?

The internet is a powerful tool, and its impact depends on its use. For me, it’s a platform I can use to reach more people as a voice for women and animal rights. I use the internet to showcase who I am and to amplify the positive messages I want to share with the world. For you, it’s a tool you can harness to attempt to ruin people’s days.

You use the internet to mask your identity and spread negativity. I use it to spread hope and knowledge.

Anyways, I reported you. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
