I Should’ve Listened To My Mom When She Warned Me About You
I wish I had listened to her when she told me that guys like you will never mend hearts like mine when they’re the ones who keep breaking them.

I should’ve listened to my mom when she told me you’re just like the rest.
When she told me that you will say things you don’t mean and you will walk away as soon as I start falling for you. She told me that you will not be here when I need you the most and she told me that you are not someone I can count on. I wish I had listened to her before I trusted you with all my secrets because now you know all my secrets and I know all your lies.
I should’ve listened to my mom when she told me that you don’t appreciate me.
When you would go days without calling me and weeks without seeing me, when you weren’t trying to be part of the details of my life, when you weren’t trying to talk to my mom about my childhood and listen to the stories that shaped me, when you weren’t trying to get to know my friends and ask them about the things I say about you, about those who came before you and about the times they held me when I couldn’t stop crying. She told me that if you’re not trying to spend the time you value most with me, then you don’t even value me.
I wish I had listened to her when she told me that if you can’t spend your days with me then you won’t spend your life with me.
I should’ve listened to my mom when she told me that you don’t know me.
You don’t know why I smile for no reason when I’m around you, you don’t know why I can sometimes shut myself off because I don’t want you to know I’m hurting, you don’t know why I love people too much or why I’m too honest. You don’t know that if I fall for you, I’ll fall hard and fast and nothing can stop me, you don’t know that if I fall for you, I’ll love you in a way that will slowly patch up your broken heart and make you love deeply again; love like you’ve never been hurt before. I wish I had listened to her when she told me you don’t know what love is because every time you got closer to finding it, you ran away.
I should’ve listened to my mom when she told me that you will break my heart.
She warned me about you and your games, she told me that guys like you will never be satisfied with one woman and they don’t know how to keep a good woman when they find her. She told me that guys like you only like a chase or a challenge, they don’t want to be tied down when they can keep running away. She told me that guys like you only like girls who make them feel better about themselves, she told me that guys like you will always love themselves more than anyone.
I wish I had listened to her when she told me that guys like you will never mend hearts like mine when they’re the ones who keep breaking them.
I should’ve listened to my mom when she warned me about you because mothers just know.
A mother knows from the way a guy looks at her daughter if he is going to cherish her or if he is going to break her heart. A mother knows from the second he says hello if he’s here to stay or if it’s only a matter of time before he says goodbye.
