Sheriff In Charge Of Oregon Shooting Investigation Posted Sandy Hook Conspiracy Video On Facebook
Sheriff Hanlin encouraged people to "keep an open mind" when watching a conspiracy video that blames federal government for Sandy Hook massacre.

John Hanlin is the sheriff who is in charge of investigating the tragic shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. However, some people have been raising their eyebrows after one of his Facebook posts came to light.
The post was made after the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school where 20 students and 6 staff members were murdered before gunman Adam Lanza shot himself.
The post itself is a link to a video that claims to point out “irregularities” about the incident, and implicates the United States government as a potential player in the tragedy. This is the video and opinion John Hanlin is sharing on his Facebook page.

Not one to just keep his opinions on Facebook, Hanlin has expressed his views on gun control in other ways, including a letter to Vice President Joe Biden that said:
“Gun control is NOT the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings. Any actions against, or in disregard for our U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights by the current administration would be irresponsible and an indisputable insult to the American people.”
In the letter he also promised to defy any new federal legislation regarding gun control by not enforcing new rules or regulations:
“[…] the second purpose of this letter is to make notification that any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the President offending the Constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies, nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Douglas County Oregon.”
When prompted by the press about whether gun control should be a part of the discussion now that a mass shooting has happened in his county, under his watch, Sheriff Hanlin merely replied, “my position has not changed.”
Hanlin has since scrubbed his Facebook page clean of his shared images, but his full letter is viewable via Time magazine here.
