I found the Dark Knight Rises to be inspirational, but maybe not quite this inspirational.

A man is running around the city of London, dressed in a Batman-esque mask with combat trousers and a muscle shirt, saving people from being mugged.

One recent victim described how he was walking home one evening, when a gang of thieves jumped from the bushes and ordered him to give them his phone and wallet.

“I thought I was quite literally done for. Then, out of nowhere, a man about 6ft tall, dressed in black combat-style trousers and a tight muscle top, and wearing a black bandana mask, came running towards them.

He kicked the biggest of my attackers to the ground, which must have knocked the wind out of him. Then he grabbed one of the others and swung him into the other one, and pushed them both into a prickly hedge. They were both screaming in pain.”

Another woman also described her encounter with London’s masked hero after her purse had been snatched by a mugger.

“[The robber] didn’t speak but made an angry growling sound. As he pulled my bag away from me it was a horrible emotion of feeling sick to the stomach,” she said. “The force behind it was actually painful.”

As the thief ran way with the purse, our hero extended his leg and tripped the robber. He returned the bag to the victim, and asked her to be more careful in the future.

A third victim also shared how the masked hero fought off his assailants.

“He grabbed one of them, attacking him, and put some kind of ninja lock on him. He pushed him while twisting this geezer’s arm into the other fella.”

The hero has been deemed the Bromley Batman, and the Twitterverse is in awe.

“If I could give him a kiss to say thanks, I would be a happy girl,” says the woman whose purse was saved by the Batman.
