Cops Who Choked Eric Garner Not Indicted, Killing Black Men For Any Reason Now Apparently Legal In NYC
I propose renaming New York City to "New Birmingham" or, barring that, "Slavetown."
The NYPD cops who used an illegal chokehold on Eric Garner during an arrest for selling loose cigarettes will not be indicted for the act despite the NYC Medical Examiner’s Office ruling his death was “compression of neck (chokehold), compression of chest and prone positioning during physical restraint by police.”
The NYPD union maintains that the Examiner’s Office findings are a “political witch hunt” and that officers did nothing wrong.
In light of this revelation that the NYPD can do whatever it wants to minorities under its rule, I propose renaming New York City to “New Birmingham” or, barring that, “Slavetown” just so we can all be clear on what the score is.
