Holy Shit: Saudi Arabia to Build Mile-High Skyscraper

Wow. According to Gizmodo via The Daily, the Saudis plan on building a skyscraper that will be one mile high. Expected to cost upwards of $30 billion, the tallest-structure-in-the-world-to-be will house a giant hotel, office space and apartments in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

Wow. According to Gizmodo via The Daily, the Saudis plan on building a skyscraper that will be one mile high. Expected to cost upwards of $30 billion, the tallest-structure-in-the-world-to-be will house a giant hotel, office space and apartments in the Saudi city of Jeddah. It will take a 12-minute elevator ride to ascend to the very top.

Here’s a video of the architecture exhibit in which plans for the structure were (apparently) first unveiled:

The current tallest building in the word is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which reaches 2,700 feet (under half of the proposed Saudi building). But I gotta ask – like, how are they going to clean the windows on that thing? And, what’s next – a space elevator? Thought Catalog Logo Mark
