Twin BroBro Presents WAVES, A Project On Black And Latino Men’s Hairstyle

Twin BroBro presents WAVES.

By

Twin BroBro started in 2006 with Maclean Jackson and Stephen K. Schuster. To create interesting projects with interesting people, they decided to collaborate together and came up with WAVES, a project about the black and Latino men’s hairstyle. In this short film (accompanied by a limited-edition book designed by Sally Thurer and comes with a custom-made, spandex du-rag dust cover), Twin BroBro explores the practice, character and landscape of waves.

For WAVES, artists TrujilloPaumier photographed and filmed the wavers with a focus on the classic patterns and shapes of their hair. All the wave models were scouted on the street and through the internet, some are especially active members of the online wave community.

This six-minute film celebrates the brushing, the products, and du-rags that makes waves. The interviews reveal the intricate rituals wavers undertake to bring their waves crashing to life. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
