A cute toy dog was “rescued” by two concerned police officers while on patrol in Mansfield, England.

The officers thought that the King Charles Spaniel doll was a real dog in danger of dying from the heat.

The owner of the car, retired 80-year-old Gordon Williams, found a handwritten note from one of the officers that explained why the window of his Mercedes had been shattered.

“Smashed your window re concern for animal on rear seat,” the note read.

The Nottinghamshire Police have since reached out and agreed to pay for the damages, which is set at $290.

The doll is reported to be worth $7.20. Thought Catalog Logo Mark
