This Is What We’re Really Celebrating On St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day is a day to celebrate Ireland, and what it means to be Irish.
As St. Patrick’s Day approaches many are setting their plans to attend parades, or celebrate with friends and loved ones by imbibing alcoholic beverages at bars, and if you’re American maybe you’ll cook corned beef and cabbage. Heck, some people even plan on attending church (it being a Saint’s day after all).
At its essence, though, St. Patrick’s Day is a day to celebrate Ireland, and what it means to be Irish. So for those that don’t know what that entails I’d encourage you take a couple of minutes to experience a glimpse of just why it is Ireland is so worthy of celebration, in the wonderful video below. Regardless of how you will be celebrating – if you’re Irish, not Irish, young, old, happy, sad. Because St. Patrick’s Day is more than just honoring a dude that did some stuff with some snakes (one that’s not actually from Ireland, contrary to popular misconception*), and it’s definitely more than just drinking heavily and wearing green and orange (though that is a crucial element).
As this video so succinctly describes: #IrelandInspires. (And so does the angelic vocalist styling’s of James Vincent McMorrow.)

Merry (and safe) St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to all!
