Pretty soon smartphones are going to take over the world, so get ready. In the last three months of 2010 alone, 100 million smartphones were shipped, compared to just 92 million computers. That’s a lot of phones! Wireless carriers and tech companies are all in the race to create The World’s Greatest Smartphone, and in the next few months we’ll see various 4G/LTE/HSPA+ offerings by HTC, Motorola, and Samsung.

Their new device — the Kyocera Echo — is a 3.5-inch Android phone, which will run Android 2.2 (Froyo), 1GB of internal memory, and work like a Wi-Fi hotspot. The little dude comes with both a 5-megapixel camera and a 720p HD camcorder, so you can record your sex tapes in high definition.
But let’s be real. This isn’t a phone about specs—it’s about having two screens, people. It’s a phone for the Screen Age, where everybody’s ADD and always staring into some kind of screen. Your iPod/iPhone/iPad/Touch Phone/Tablet/HDTV/Computer Screen. Sprint/Kyocera really thinks they’re onto something with this one, the only phone with dual screens. But, um, what can people possibly be doing with their phones that they need two screens? Also, for being so “high tech,” the Echo looks like a brick with a touch screen painted on. Did somebody over at Kyocera forget which century we’re in?
