Kristen Stewart Says If She Rebooted Twilight, Bella Would Come Back Gay
She’d keep the story going rather than remake it, and pitched the opening live: “I like a little flashback. She’s like, ‘I’m gay.'” When the room floated her wife Dylan Meyer as the writer, Stewart didn’t hesitate: “Dylan, write it.”
Stewart said she’d continue the saga rather than remake it, and that her version opens with Bella returning as a gay woman. She floated the idea on Watch What Happens Live, admitting an earlier comment about being open to directing a Twilight reboot was mostly her “titillating the whole population of the world.”

The bit turned into a live pitch session. Someone told her she’d just written the tagline, and her wife, screenwriter Dylan Meyer, got name-checked as the one to actually put it on the page.

Meyer’s directorial debut, “The Wrong Girls,” a Neon stoner comedy starring Stewart, hit theaters August 14, so the couple’s habit of making movies together is already well underway. Stewart played Bella across all five Twilight films between 2008 and 2012.
