Sombr Got Candid About His Eating Struggles: “Sometimes I Do Not Like Eating, And It Makes Me Want To Throw Up To Eat.”
Sombr wrote “My Body Isn’t Ready” straight out of his own relationship with food, and he told Variety in August 2026 that the struggle predates the fame: “It’s been my lifelong struggle.”

Born Shane Michael Boose, the New York singer went from GarageBand bedroom recordings to more than 50 million monthly listeners in about four years, with a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and a debut album, “I Barely Know Her,” behind him.
He says he has to make himself eat before performances to have the energy to get through them. The 2026 single spells it out directly: “I like you, but my body isn’t ready / I want you, but the mirror won’t let me.”

He’s spoken just as bluntly about the body-shaming that comes with the spotlight, pushing back on a viral comparison that likened his lanky 6’5″ frame to Slenderman. As he put it about the noise online: “Everyone can say whatever the fuck they want about me. I know who I am.”
