The Clancy Trial Is About Postpartum Psychosis, Not a Husband-Framed-Her Conspiracy

The husband-framed-her theory only holds if you ignore Lindsay’s confession, her own lawyer telling the jury she did it, the minute-by-minute timeline, and an alibi locked in by video and phone records.
Lindsay Clancy has admitted she strangled her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, with exercise bands inside their Duxbury, Massachusetts home on January 24, 2023. Her defense doesn’t dispute the act. The whole trial turns on whether postpartum psychosis left her without criminal responsibility, while prosecutors argue she acted with intent and premeditation.
The online “husband theory” claims Patrick drugged her, pushed her from a second-story window, and killed the kids so he could remarry. It’s built on peripheral details: shoe styles caught on surveillance, her body temperature at the ER, an Apple Watch, a lack of usable prints on the bands and knife, his later remarriage.
The documented sequence leaves no room for it. Lindsay asked Patrick to pick up takeout and a pharmacy item. While he was gone she killed the children, cut herself, and jumped. He came back, found her injured outside, called 911, then found the kids in the basement, screaming on the call as he did.
Surveillance footage, phone records, and the tight timeline of that errand put him away from the house during the killings, and investigators corroborated it early. He testified as a prosecution witness about the timeline and her mental decline. No physical evidence, no charges, and no investigative finding has ever pointed at him.
The Boston Globe and other outlets have called the claims baseless conspiracy theories. It’s a familiar true-crime pattern: once the public has absorbed the tragedy, the surviving spouse becomes the more satisfying villain. Friends and family have pushed back publicly against the harassment.
