House of the Dragon Finale: Helaena’s Death Has a Chilling Connection to Game of Thrones
Last night on the House of the Dragon season 3 finale, Rhaenyra discovered that her prisoner, a pregnant Helaena Targaryen, has jumped to her death out of a window in the Red Keep. Next to the window, Rhaenyra found the tapestry Helaena was making, which portrayed Helaena’s own death as well as a foreboding depiction of Rhaenyra surrounded by blood, death, and dying dragons.

House of the Dragon fans who also watched Game of Thrones may have drawn a connection to the season 6 finale death of Tommen Baratheon, who also died by jumping out of a window.

Helaena jumps because she believes she and/or her baby will be killed or face a life of suffering as Rhaenyra’s prisoners as well as her visions about the horrors of the Dance of Dragons.
Tommen jumps because he is devastated after seeing Cersei destroy the Great Sept of Baelor with wildfire, killing the High Sparrow, Margaery Tyrell, Loras, Mace, and many others.

While both windows are in the Red Keep and have a similar view of the Great Sept of Baelor at the top of Visenya’s Hill, it is not actually the same window. Officially, showrunner Ryan Condal said, “It’s a different set build in a different world, but echoes and reflections and parallels, for sure, to be drawn between the two series.”

Because it is not the same window, Tommen and Helaena’s deaths don’t seem to be connected beyond the obvious — that both young royals jumped out of a window in the same building due to the emotional toil of a bloody battle for the Iron Throne.
Do you see any other connections between Tommen Baratheon and Helaena Targaryen?
