Jesse and Alli McBee’s Marriage Is Struggling—But These Little Moments Show Why They’re Stuck

By

On McBee Dynasty, Jesse is dropping the ball as a father. But the way Alli speaks to him isn’t helping.

On this week’s episode, Jesse brings his infant daughter, Summer, to a meeting at the family carwash with him. When Alli shows up to pick her up, she asks Jesse when Summer last ate and then quickly says “You don’t know anything?” before he has a chance to answer. Jesse actually does know the last time Summer ate, he just answered slowly. (For context, it’s important to keep track of what time babies last ate so you know they’re getting enough nutrition and aren’t dehydrated, Alli isn’t just being controlling).

When Alli prepares to leave the carwash, Jessi gives Summer some sweet kisses, but Alli points out that she turns her head away from Jesse.

These two little jabs really rubbed me the wrong way. And I’m on Alli’s side!

Earlier on this season, Alli explained that Jessi is spending a lot of nights crashing at the farm instead of coming home to their house to spend time with Summer. As soon as they got married and had a baby, it seems like Jesse did a 180 and completely lost interest in both Alli and being an involved father.

For better or worse, I think Alli McBee is reacting the way most of us would react in this situation.

I hate to put the onus on the person who is actually showing up and being a parent and coming up with ideas for how to fix their intimacy issues. However, I just don’t see how things can get better if you’re making little comments like this. On one hand, it is a good thing to point out to Jesse how his behavior (not spending time with his daughter) affects him (his daughter turning her head when he kisses her). On the other, it’s escalating the tension in the family.
