Zendaya Says Her Parents Cussed Her Out in Fifth Grade — Not for Bullying, but for Watching It Happen

Zendaya has shared a story from her childhood about a lesson her parents taught her early on: that staying silent in the face of bullying carries its own consequences.

According to the actress, her parents once cussed her out in fifth grade. The reason wasn’t that she had bullied another girl — it was that she had watched it happen and said nothing.

The girl being bullied wasn’t Zendaya’s target. She just stood there and watched, and that was enough for her parents to pull her into her dad’s office and let her have it.
