How Ashley Responded to Killian’s Devastating Injury After Filming on the Ultimatum Wrapped
Killian Grondin walked away from The Ultimatum on Netflix engaged to Ashley Wilson, his partner of more than 4 years. Then he suffered a devastating injury.

Killian and Ashley met through competitive cheerleading. On The Ultimatum, Killian went on a picnic date with Alex where the topic of cheerleading came up. After Killian said he can still do a backflip, Alex asked to see it. Killian said he hadn’t performed the stunt in 2 years, but proceeded to perform one in front of her.

However, after filming wrapped on The Ultimatum, Killian tried the stunt again and snapped both of his Achilles tendons. He was in a wheelchair for 6 months. There’s a video of the stunt on his Instagram page.
The lengthy recovery meant Killian was unable to handle everyday tasks on his own. He said Ashley stepped into the role of caregiver, helping with cooking, cleaning, transportation, and other responsibilities while he recovered. Looking back, Killian acknowledged that the situation put significant pressure on their relationship and said he felt guilty that Ashley had to carry so much of the load.

Killian said Ashley ended their engagement roughly seven or eight months after the show. He said he felt like she was already made plans to move out before telling him, alleging that she secured her own condo while he was still recovering from his injuries. According to Killian, Ashley informed him of her decision and he even helped her pack and move into her new home before the two stopped speaking for several months.

Despite the painful breakup, Killian said their relationship has evolved over time. After spending a few months apart, the former couple attempted to rebuild a friendship, even attending church together. Ultimately, they decided they needed more distance, believing it was too difficult to transition directly from being engaged to being just friends.

Now, Killian says they are back in contact and trying to support one another, particularly following the recent death of Ashley’s mother.
Ashley has also shared her perspective on why the relationship ended. Reflecting on their time together, she said she believed love would be enough to overcome their challenges but ultimately realized she didn’t feel supported in the relationship. She also said that once she no longer envisioned building a family with Killian, she knew it was time to walk away, calling the breakup one of the hardest—but ultimately best—decisions she has ever made.
