That’s Not Just Yellow, It’s Butter Yellow, and It’s This Summer’s Cerulean

Butter yellow is the color fashion has been building toward all year, and it spent this week collecting receipts on two continents.

Bad Bunny turned up at Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture fall show in Paris on Monday in a custom double-breasted wool-and-silk suit in the exact creamy shade, cut with exaggerated shoulders and peak lapels over a white silk shirt and the house’s black-and-gold braided tie. Gold surrealist brooches, including a rabbit nodding to his name, finished it. Heeled cowboy boots carried it out.

Kaling’s version landed three days later on GMA’s “Deals & Steals” segment: a brighter, sunnier Argent suit, double-breasted with notched lapels and tortoiseshell buttons, styled with gold accessories and Chanel pieces. Same silhouette, same monochrome commitment, warmer register.

The shade has run through Chanel, Chloé, Dior, Alberta Ferretti, and Bottega Veneta this year, which is how a color ends up on a couture front row and a morning show in the same week.
