In her new essay, she lays out the timeline: sex stopped six months after their son was born, and the marriage was over less than a year after that. The cheating reports came around the same time she walked away.
“Six months after my son was born, my husband and I stopped having sex. Less than a year later, we separated.” That’s how Emily Ratajkowski describes the end of her marriage to producer Sebastian Bear-McClard in a June essay for The Cut.
Their son, Sylvester, was born in May 2021. By the following summer the couple had split, and reporting at the time claimed Ratajkowski filed for divorce after learning of Bear-McClard’s alleged cheating, with sources calling him a “serial cheater.”

She’s never given a blow-by-blow account of what she knew and when. In the essay she calls the collapse something that “felt both instant and excruciatingly slow,” and spends most of the piece on the life she’s built as a single mother since the divorce was finalized.
