At a Faith and Freedom Event, Trump Joked He’s “Very Upset” the Founders Mentioned God Four Times in the Declaration and Skipped Him
Trump used a faith conference Friday to crack a joke about the document that founded the country. “Four times,” he said of the founders invoking the Creator in the Declaration of Independence, before adding, “I wasn’t mentioned once. I’m very upset. Not once!”
The mock-grievance line came during his speech at the annual Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, D.C., where he addressed Republican lawmakers and conservative activists. He was preceded on the program by House Speaker Mike Johnson and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

He claimed his administration “saved religious freedom in America,” tying the country’s founding to faith from Jamestown to Lexington and Concord. The Declaration turns 250 next week.
