A Prayer To Stop Looking Back And Trust What’s Ahead

By

Finding peace starts with surrendering our worries to the universe and trusting that God’s guidance will meet us in the middle of our uncertainty. Best-selling author of Finding God Every Day, Rebecca Simon, reminds us to trust God’s timing, embrace patience, and lean on His presence through every season of life.

The past can teach you, but it cannot carry you. At some point, healing asks us to stop searching yesterday for the answers God is trying to reveal tomorrow.

God,

I find myself looking back more than I want to. Replaying what happened, thinking about what I could have done differently, wondering if things would feel better now if I had made another choice. It’s hard not to revisit the past when parts of it still feel unresolved.

But today, I’m asking you to help me release it.

Help me loosen my grip on what’s already behind me. Quiet the part of me that keeps searching for answers in places you’ve already closed. Teach me to stop measuring my life by what didn’t work out and start trusting that you are still guiding me forward.

God, give me the courage to face what’s ahead without constantly turning around. Help me believe that what’s in front of me doesn’t need to compete with what’s already passed. And if I’m still holding onto anything out of regret, gently help me let it go. Remind me that you are not leading me backward, but forward — into something ! don’t fully see yet, but can learn to trust.

Amen.
