Emma Chamberlain’s Met Gala Dress Is Inspired by Her Favorite Van Gogh and Munch Paintings
The custom Mugler gown was hand-painted by artist Anna Deller-Yee, covered in vibrant brushstrokes of red, blue, green, and yellow that run the full length of the dress.

Chamberlain and her stylist Jared Ellner sent designer Miguel Castro Freitas a stack of art references, including works by Van Gogh and Munch, then spent 3 hours walking him through the vision.
Her dad is an oil and watercolor painter. She grew up in a house covered in art. Two people had to carry the train as she exited her hotel. The gown also pays tribute to Mugler’s 1997 Chimera Dress.
