A “Let Go Of Resentment” Prayer

By

We reflect God’s heart whenever we choose to forgive, as seen in this prayer by Karin Hadadan. Mirroring this grace, Rebecca Simon’s Finding God Every Day offers daily guidance to keep your heart soft and your spirit renewed. Let’s open our hearts in this prayer.

All of us have experienced moments where forgiving someone feels difficult, especially when the hurt runs deep. You just have to remember that letting go, though not easy, is often the first step toward healing your own heart and reflecting the grace God has already shown you. Pray along with me today.

Dear God,

Thank you for forgiving all of my sins, even those that make me feel unworthy of your grace. The truth is, there are people who have wronged me, and I struggle to extend that same forgiveness toward them because of what they have done and how they’ve made me feel. But I recognize your call to ‘forgive as the Lord forgave me,’ and that harboring this bitterness only hurts my own heart.

Today, I ask for your help to release these grievances, to bear with others’ weaknesses, and to forgive completely as you have forgiven me. Thank you for the freedom I know will come when I finally let go of this resentment and follow your example of grace.

Amen.
