When You Can’t Let Go Of The Past, Pray This
Letting go of the past becomes possible when we trust God’s promise that sorrow is temporary and joy will come, as emphasized by Karin Hadadan. Similarly, Rebecca Simon’s Finding God Every Day encourages a daily walk that helps you release what’s behind and stay anchored in His presence.
The memories of our past and worries about the future can sometimes feel overwhelming, making it hard to move forward each day. Keep in our hearts and minds that even in these seasons of heaviness, God promises that joy will come again, and He remains with us through it all. Let us seek God together in prayer.
Dear God,
Lately, life has been a lot to bear. Everything feels overwhelming—I am worried about the future and can’t let go of the past, struggling to move forward each day. But I remember your promise that weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Today, I ask for hope—give me faith that the troubles of today will pass, and that your favor, which lasts a lifetime, will sustain me. Please give me strength during this night season of weeping, and allow me to hear your voice of comfort. Enable me to see the purpose in my challenges so that I can anticipate the joy of the morning that follows every dark night. Thank you for always being beside me through every season of my life.
Amen.
