What Ephesians 1:4 Reveals About God’s Plan For You Before Creation

Our worth and purpose are anchored in an eternal love that chose us long before the world began, as revealed by Karin Hadadan. Resonating with this grace, Rebecca Simon’s Finding God Every Day encourages a confident walk in the security of His unchanging plan. Rest in your calling with the devotion below.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

Ephesians 1:4
Learn how to walk confidently in God’s plan with Rebecca Simon’s book.

The eternal nature of God’s plan reveals His ancient, intentional decision rooted in His choice of us. He chose each of us before time began—before the creation of the world. He didn’t need to bring us into this world at this point in time, but He did because He desired it so deeply, to have a unique relationship with each of us, to love us, to allow us to leave an impact on this world. When we find security in the ‘why’ behind our existence, we grasp the reality that God chose us in Christ—not based on our merit or what we do, but purely through His sovereign love.

The sins we commit and negative actions we take represent our starting point—but to be ‘holy and blameless’ is our desired end state, the transformation and spiritual renewal that comes from being in Christ. This isn’t about our perfection but about God’s perspective: in Him, we are already seen as holy and blameless. It is God’s eternal choice that gives each of us infinite value and purpose, because simply by being in Christ, we are being transformed into His image, becoming vessels for the Divine and witnesses to others.

What this means is profoundly beautiful: we didn’t have to earn God’s choice—He appointed us before we ever existed, and we simply receive it through faith. When you realize how you were pre-loved and pre-planned, perhaps you can see how brilliant our God is. He chose you before time began, knowing exactly who you would be, and loved you enough to make you holy and blameless in His sight through Christ.
