You Have To Handle The Lows To Chase The Highs

Everything is not as easy as we all make it seem most days, but we fake a smile and push through it.

It’s that time of the year again. It’s getting dark a little earlier, it’s getting so cold that you can feel it in your bones, and you HAVE to have that morning coffee just to feel like you have the energy to get your day started. You can feel the seasonal depression creeping in.

What do you do about it?

You embrace it. You feel through it. You feel through your feelings and you handle it. It’s okay to not be okay sometimes. It’s okay to need a day just for you and your thoughts. It’s okay to handle these lows as they come so you can remember that you never want to feel this way again. Whether it be your friends, your job, school, finances, or a significant other that has you feeling down, handle it. Your friends aren’t who you need them to be today? Express that. Your job has your anxiety at a 10? Find a way to cope through the stress. Your professor is pissing you off? Breathe through it, the semester is almost over. You can’t pay your rent this month? Hustle, and I mean hustle HARD. The person you love doesn’t love you back? MOVE THE FUCK ON.

These are real life problems for real life adults. Everything is not as easy as we all make it seem most days, but we fake a smile and push through it. Life is not supposed to be this hard. We’re given these hard moments to make us stronger. We’re made to struggle in life to remember that the good times are truly that—good times.

Just breathe.

Soak it in and embrace all of your feelings. Feel through every ounce of the sadness and then aim for happiness. The pursuit of happiness is not that far off, and you are completely in control of whether you obtain it or not. Life is a big, fat, gigantic stinking mess, but that is the beauty of it too.

Buy that outfit, get over that boy who is too stupid to love you, apply for that job, ace that test, and handle your shit. You are so much more than you’re giving yourself credit for. You have been through a lot. But you’re still here. That means something. It means so much more than you think it does. You haven’t given up, nor should you.

You’re the best part of someone’s day. That boy doesn’t want you? There’s another one that will. Your smile is breathtaking. The way your eyes light up when you talk about something you’re passionate about is mesmerizing. Your laugh is contagious. You mean so much to so many people and you owe it to yourself to chase every peaking moment that your life has yet to see.

Keep on keepin’ on and be that boss ass bitch you always are.
